I know you’re struggling with packing (you still have 60 boxes left to fill!) Call your closest friends and ask help from them. I’m sure they’ll be willing to lend a hand. If they can’t, there are self-storage companies who can offer you efficient service to make your move less difficult. :D I hope it’s not too late though.

Ericka MuldowneyAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16339379307492633528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13684790.post-88073293859550082242012-05-25T11:18:16.895-06:002012-05-25T11:18:16.895-06:00Congrats on the new relocation/job/house! It's impossible to control, isn't it?

Don't forget a "need immediately" box to come with you in the car, with paper towels and toilet paper and the baby's lovey (and, if you're me, the coffee maker) to be carried in the car with you, instead of in the moving truck.Rachaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17087847312958608930noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13684790.post-66237450171323345712012-05-23T12:46:02.244-06:002012-05-23T12:46:02.244-06:00I just moved twice in six weeks because I'm a ...I just moved twice in six weeks because I'm a glutton for punishment. :) I didn't hire professionals because hey it's just me, but I paired down a lot of stuff. As aggravating as craigslist and the church listserv was, I got rid of a lot of stuff and I got some cash. It was so nice to not worry about moving big things. Also I packed over two weeks. It helped me sort out a lot of stuff that I hadn't tossed in previous moves. I took my peeps out for cheap Indian buffet because I didn't want to cook and they were happy with good food. I'm classier than Little Ceasers.

As for entertainment, I got addicted to of all things geanelogy shows. They are no brainers but entertaining. I even learned some stuff to help me with my own family history. You don't have to look at them. Also I listened to Masterpiece theatre online but you might get distracted about seeing the hotness of Sherlock Holmes again. I also had NPR going and General Conference because I moved during that weekend.

If you love Excel, number your boxes and then have the list over in Excel or Google Docs. It may come in handy also when doing an insurance claim in the future.

I think the cleaning was worse for me than the actual move. I steam cleaned the carpet. It was worth it.

Good luck! Can't wait to see what the house looks like.abbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11593047822720487011noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13684790.post-70562369022391628722012-05-23T12:06:43.350-06:002012-05-23T12:06:43.350-06:00Oh, also, professional movers. We also used them ...Oh, also, professional movers. We also used them for the first time during our last move and they are AMAZING! I think they are pretty much worth their weight in gold.

Jason was supervising the whole thing while I slaved away at work and he later reported, with a bit of awe in his voice, how they just hoisted the couch up and out of the apartment without the need to do the complex mathematical calculations that were necessary when we brought the couch up the stairs and into the apartment.Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03573340707827029537noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13684790.post-71949009383583159892012-05-23T12:02:44.843-06:002012-05-23T12:02:44.843-06:002 years ago we moved from a 1000 square foot apart...2 years ago we moved from a 1000 square foot apartment into an 1800 square foot house (plus half-finished basement) and I thought, "There will never be clutter again!" Yeah. Well, it's better, but we have kind of just expanded to fill the space.

But don't get me wrong, it is MUCH better. And I'm sure for the first several months, you'll be able to stave off that expansion a little bit.

Good luck! I can't wait to see pictures of the house (says the girl who stalks houses on Zillow for fun)Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03573340707827029537noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13684790.post-91206926900658514822012-05-23T08:35:06.749-06:002012-05-23T08:35:06.749-06:00Having a hard time feeling bad about you having to...Having a hard time feeling bad about you having to pack. You are moving to LOGAN for crying out loud. I'd pack a thousand boxes. Maybe I will see you some time. And a musical soundtrack for when I can't stand another word of This American Life/RadioWest/NPR.

I dream of the day we can hire professional movers. Like, I could pack extra blankets and winter coats first, but our pillows and toothbrushes not until the very end. That way I had a very clear idea of which things had to be done each day and a finish line so I didn't get too overwhelmed.Brinestonehttp://www.galacticcactus.com/brinestonenoreply@blogger.com
