Happy July 4!

Logan did their fireworks last night--supposedly so it's not competing with Provo's Stadium of Fire. I was in the stadium at Utah State's campus, which is where they shot them off. A bonus was that we got to hear the accompanying music. The minus was that some of that music was country. But then they moved on to good stuff like the Glory and Saving Private Ryan soundtracks. I tried the "fireworks" setting on my little camera and got mixed results, but here are a few of the pics. It was a beautiful night.

Today I'm going to lounge by Spitfire's pool and tonight some friends are throwing a BBQ. I am very relieved about this because all week I've been hearing about what Jen and her friends are going to eat at their BBQ. This way I won't have to throw myself out in front of traffic in a fit of jealousy and thwarted gastronomic hopes.

Everyone please take a minute to go listen to NPR's annual reading of the Declaration of Independence. I may not go around bawling country music or setting brushfires with my fireworks, but you can't say I'm not patriotic in my own snooty NPR way.

You know how your dad always listens to all those Rush Limbaugh type loud guys on AM radio? So I was so proud of myself for listening to talk radio until he informed me that NPR wasn't really real talk radio. They were all wacko liberals or something like that. I disagree.

Nem-I'm trapped and desperate for something to read. If you get a minute, PLEASE swing Ant Farm past my house.

MIxed results? Those are great pictures! What kind of camera do you have?

Those are great pictures. They turned out much better than my camera. I watched the fireworks from the brige they launched them next to in Portland, so they were very impressive. Unfortunaly I could not hear all of the soundtrack that came with them. What camera do you have?

This is too funny. I have a Canon PowerShot A75 with 3.2 megapixels. I got it about 3 years ago. It's worked fine and I can't justify buying a new one even though I'd love something that can take closer closeups. Also you have to hold your breath and possibly suspend your pulse when you take a picture to keep it from blurring.

The fireworks setting was funny because it didn't take the pic until about 4 seconds after I hit the button. So I never knew what was going to actually be in the shot.

I have a 3.2MP Canon Powershot S1 IS and I'm pretty sure it's my favorite camera ever. I too, would like "closer closups" but you can't have everything.

Looking at the photos, it was probably leaving the shutter open for a second or two. Nice photos. :)

I don't see how there could have been another party with better food then ours. :P

I love hearing the Declaration read every year on NPR, especially when we get to the part where we're putting the smack down on George III.

And you should have heard me trying to explain to Other Half the other day why NPR isn’t talk radio.

LOL, I'll make a note for next year about the NPR reading.

Your pictures are always so great. I'd love to know what your camera is!

And umm, never mind. I need to pay a little more attention to the comment section. :)

Canon powershot. Gotta look into that.

Those are seriously some of the best firework pictures I've seen this year. You done good.

Y'all are sweet. You didn't see the ones that didn't turn out though . . . :-)
