My first guest post ever

It can be found over at Cicada's blog. For those who aren't going to click over (although I can't think of a single good reason not to) I have to share this one bit from the post:

We waited outside on the grounds while the wedding party got changed into their tuxes and other finery for the pictures. And while we waited Daltongirl saw something so arresting that she grabbed the top of my head and swiveled my neck over so that I could see it too. A lady walked out of the temple wearing the most extraordinary footwear I have ever before seen in life. She walked over to a bench and sat down, where I hope she pondered the choice she just made to go into the Lord's House dressed like a yeti:

Seriously.

First off, could there be anything uglier?

Secondly, what is up with wearing something like that to the temple? I mean, if you're not supposed to wear flip-flops to church then you're definitely not supposed to wear Muppet Shoes in the temple. Some have suggested that maybe this lady had an operation on her feet or something which prevented her from being able to wear normal shoes which were not Made By the Devil His Own Self. But surely, surely, if that were the case then these shoes would not be your only option.

What are some of the more inappropriate clothing choices you've seen lately?

Wow. Just, wow.

I've seen women in pants; yes, pants.

And I really don't like it when I see men in jeans. Seriously guys, is this your Sunday best?

A couple of things-

I wasn't sure exactly which post to comment on- Cicada's or yours. I will do it here so that I only have to comment once. I adore the Provo Temple. I did not grow up here. I didn't love it when I moved here (Fall 2003), but I've grown to absolutely adore it. I got married at the Mt. Timpanogos Temple, though.

Also, "Muppet Shoes" made me laugh out loud. Literally. And I'm at work. That's not the first time you've made me laugh out loud at work, which is why I continue to read your blog even though I do not know you.

(I deleted the first one because I had some crazy gibberish in it.)

Large (as in overweight), adult male who came to work on Halloween dressed up as Spiderman. It zipped up the back which meant that half way through the day he had to ask someone join him in the bathroom to unzip him.

My step-mother was asked to cover her head-to-toe-red-sequin-muumuu when she showed up at the temple for my brother's wedding. I only wish I was kidding.

That reminds me of a Family Guy episode.

Speedos. I can't think of any situation they would be appropriate.

My weirdest clothing at the temple story was too long to comment on so I posted instead.

However, since I'm living in the the hippie capital of the world now, I've seen some crazy things. Because, you know, tie-dye is the new formal and homeless, or at least looking homeless, is very chic here. (Okay, the last bit sounds really heartless, but many of the homeless here are actually homeless by choice. Really. They don't beg or anything, they just kind of hang out together. Smoking doobies.)

I was at a single adult convention dance and noticed a lady in her 40s wearing one of those black mesh tops (the ones that are basically see-through). I thought to myself - interesting choice, I wonder what she has on underneath. So I looked at her shoulder...hmmm, can't see anything. I looked at her neck...hmmm, can't see anything. So I looked further down....and oh yes, I do see something...its a nipple!

She had nothing, yes absolutely nothing on underneath! Nice!!!!
