Burning a hole in my pocket

Remember that one time when I was one who bikes? Yeah, that didn't last super long. For the last year my sweet bike has just been sitting on our third-floor balcony, all exposed to the elements. (Note: Please do not mimic my stupidity in this way. Get a dang tarp and cover your poor bike.) I haven't ridden it once, mostly because I couldn't stand the thought of having to lug it up and down three flights of stairs every time. Plus GH didn't have one so it wasn't something we could do together on the weekends like the fit kind of Smug Marrieds. Also there's just my natural sloth.

So I bit the bullet and posted the thing on KSL Classifieds. Two hours later I had a call, which I took in the bathroom of The Pie Pizzeria and which made for lovely accoustics. Less than 24 hours later a guy and his wife came to look at it for their college-aged daughter. I'd hauled the bike inside from where it was acting as a tomato-plant trellis and cleaned off the dust and grime. This was when I gained first-hand knowledge of WHY WE COVER OUR BIKES RATHER THAN LEAVING THEM OUT IN THE SNOW TO GET ALL SAD-LOOKING AND RUSTY. They looked it over, I threw in a brand-new bike lock, and we made a deal.

Their daughter gets a bike for Christmas, I get $120 cash.

Best. Ever. Now I'm wondering what else I can sell. And what to do with my loot. Anybody want to share what they would do with $120 free and clear dollars? I could use ideas.

I'd put it towards a nice hotel room for me and my honey. Like one I wouldn't normally shell out the cash for. Sometimes just spending one night away from home makes for a nice, refreshing vacation. I hear the Grand America is nice . . .

I agree about getting a sweet hotel room. Anniversary inn, for example, was the best because you get free apple cider and cheesecake in your room and then free breakfast in bed the next morning. So, the price is worth it if you ask me. That and you get a sweet themed room. We did it for our anniversary last year and I don't think it could have been any better.

Also, I'm missing KSL these days because due to my husband being in the air force, we were just transferred to Las Vegas. I used to sell everything on that website because I got some sort of cheap thrill off seeing how much I could make off junk I didn't want anymore. And I'll tell you... it was a lot.

Definitely start a cruise fund!

Yeah, book the Anniversary Inn - you can stay in the "Twilight" room -
"This suite is based on the best-selling novel "Twilight". Candle lit ambience captivates you as you enter Edward and Bella's Twilight. This suite with its soft white, gold and crystal accents offers a well appointed King bed of tone on tone white linens with a big screen TV that is able to be viewed from the bed and the jetted tub- setting the mood for your own Twilight experience. You become part of the story as you are awed by the realistic mural of the New Moon in the forest of Forks. The amazing detail and the waterfall cascading from above the jetted tub makes this suite the ultimate Twilight experience."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I was going to say stock up on food storage, but I'm lame. I'm also pregnant and nesting and hoping not to leave the house for several months after I have a baby in the dead of winter. I was in a similar lame bike situation until my husband bought a bike. Now he has a nice new one and I have a crappy old rusty one. We solved the problem by moving to Utah where riding bikes is apparently only something crazy liberals do and so we drive our car everywhere instead. Maybe I should just sell the bike. Had't thought of that.

Go to the spa in Park City you spoke about in an earlier post.

You and GH should get tatoos of each others faces on your respective right forearms. Classy.

I would pay off debt with it, but that's because I'm doing this new thing where I'm being financially responsible to make up for several years of being financially inept and stupid.

If I had a love child with mint.com like you do (my stupid credit union refuses to allow access to mint!) and had free and clear dollars I would take my sweetie to the Melting Pot and wear sexy heels that would allow me to justify letting the valet park the car. And then I'd probably go home and get some action. :)

Why does anonymous think you have a way to get a great spa deal? Did I miss that part? All I saw was that Spitfire treated you guys.

Anyways...I would put it toward a Nutrimill grain mill. I have this goal of eating healthy and since wheat flour starts losing it's nutrients after 3 days, it would be cool to grind it fresh. It is just so hard for me to justify spending the money because what if it is just one of those things that I am excited about now and then never use later. Hmmm....Maybe I should start looking fot things to sell too.

Good luck!

Go back to The Pie and take me with you! :)

Anonymous, here's the thing: the deal I found out about is not actually for a spa in Park City, it's for a spa in St. George. I will find out if the person who gave me the information is okay with me passing it along. But in the meantime it would be good if you gave me your contact information--you can do it here in the comments or you can email me at miss.nem[at]gmail.com

I would put it towards a really, really nice hotel room for an evening. Even old people who are long-timed married like me, enjoy hooking up in a great hotel room. I never have figured out why it is more fun in hotels.

Sorry - probably TMI - but you asked.

I have a pet natural sloth too. It sleeps on my back.

*sigh* I'm in the market for a bike. $120 is about my budget. It looks like I may have to settle for the rust-mobile.

PS I'm all about the living room hook-up. Shakes things up and is free. You asked. No wait, you didn't.
