Am practically Julia Child

Yes, this was my dinner. It's a hot dog (Oscar Meyer 100% beef, thank you) slathered in canned Western Family chilli and shredded sharp Cheddar Cheese.

Only see what's underneath it? Instead of a hot dog bun I used a slice of bread containing six grams of dietary fiber.

That is what is called Making Healthy Choices.

Anyone care to share some of the "healthy" choices you've been making lately?

I didn't have a piece of birthday cake for breakfast this morning (well, along with my breakfast) like I did yesterday. It's the little decisions, you know?

Actually, that sounds pretty good even if it ain't pretty.

I ate all the Pop-Tarts to get them out of the house so I wouldn't eat them. Also, I've increased my Diet Coke intake to increase my sodium. You can't live without sodium!

i agree with janell.

also, nachos have cheese(dairy!) and when made with whole wheat tortilla chips, are an excellent source of fiber.

salsa= vegetables, obviously, and if you add sour cream, well, no osteperosis (sp) for you! more dairy!

additionally, i believe churros have healing powers. science is simply behind on the research.

Hey!
I eat that all the time! And on that same bread. I just use Ball Park hotdogs (or Hebrew National) with that whatever Valley chili you get in a case from Costco.

Welcome to true cuisine, my dear!

I make ooey-gooey cinnamon rolls out of whole wheat flour so they are healthy.

I am laughing so hard I am crying. I can't wait for your dad to see this post, and his comment no less. This, my friends, is a testimony to humor at it's finest. I only wish I could add something, but alas, Weight Watchers has ruined me. I guess I could mention the $35 I spent last month at Gourmandise for pure butter and sugar blended into pretty things. And I ate most of it. Between the drive from Salt Lake to Provo!

Please, all of you, come for dinner.

Ew. I almost barfed looking at that.

I ate leek and goat cheese potatoes au gratin for breakfast yesterday morning with cotsco chocolate covered raisins to wash it down.

I drink water instead of soda almost always. Nevermind the fact that my water bottle is sitting next to my bag of dark chocolate peanut M&M's. At least it's dark chocolate...heart healthy, right?

Cheddar Curd Crunch

Preheat oven to 350.

Ingredients:
1 handful of Harvest Cheddar Sun Chips
1 blob of lowfat cottage cheese (any size curd will do)

Crunch up the Harvest Cheddar Sun Chips and place on plate. Lick orange chip crumbs off fingers. Top crunched chips with a blob of cottage cheese. Stir around on the plate, turn off the oven and scoot up to it, crack the door and warm your hands while eating this delicious delicacy.

**Chef's Note: These chips HAVE NO MSG! Seriously, this is like a “healthy” recipe now.

Bone Jr, this is like my Cheddar & Sour Cream Ruffles dipped into cottage cheese recipe but taken to a whole new level of deliciousness (and also health)!

THERE. ARE. NO. WORDS.

What the heck? First, it is spagheti with green peas. Now this. I shudder to think what could be coming next. Poor Cortney.

I made Alison Holst's Potato and Egg casserole for dinner again last night. It's pretty much comfort food - sliced cooked potatoes, chopped hard boiled eggs, ham and onion cooked in butter, covered in cheese sauce with bread crumbs (mixed with, yes, MORE butter) for topping - I added sliced chunky pieces of celery and button mushrooms - it makes a difference....surely...? Perhaps, ...not so much when I have TWO generous helpings....
.....preceded by dark choc fudge with roasted hazelnuts, icecream, more fudge, chocolate, more fudge....

I just ate a J-Dawg, half a bag of salt and vinegar potato chips, an Izze grapefruit "All Natural Flavored Juice Beverage (i.e. so much healthier than soda), and an apple. I feel a sense of kinship, Nem.

Spitfire said... [reply]

Is this an April Fools joke early? Coming from you, I honestly can't believe it. I just can't. Was this Cortney's idea of a good meal?

Coolboy, you really eat this? For some reason I thought your hot dog consumption had simmered out since leaving home or the country or something. Now I know that really, you've just added the element of canned chili-- be careful with that stuff, too much will give you a heart attack!

Nemesis said... [reply]

Spitfire, everyone has their PMS medication. Mine is sodium.

emandtrev said... [reply]

Nem, your last comment sums it up. This may explain why I can't keep my hands out of the Cheetos bag. Terrible.

emandtrev said... [reply]

P.S., which is to say I really shouldn't buy Cheetos in the first place. Again, terrible.

Had a whole bag of Weight Watchers peppermint patties...cause...it said Weight Watchers...So why not?

Okay, I must repent. My presidency meeting tonight was at a place call "Modern Dwellers Chocolate Lounge". In addition to the pan flute music and the local for sale art and jewelry, you pay $4.50 for 8 ounces of liquid chocolate. The japelenos are on the house. It was good but they couldn't vouch for any specific number of "points". I gave myself a scant 4. Yeah, I lie to myself a lot like that.

coolmom said... [reply]

Aren't japalenos considered a vegetable?

Can I hire you for my personal chef. I think my kids would love me more (as they push aside the bowl of steamed broccoli) all with eyes rolled.

By the way, I just noticed how very Bridget Jones the title to this post was, and that makes me very happy.

Monday night we had my personal favorite, bean dip:

- 1 onion, diced
- 1 can fat freere-fried beans
- 1 can Mexican corn
- 1 can Rotel
- garlic powder, cumin, salt and pepper to taste
- however much shredded cheese you like

That's healthy, right? Lots of veggies, protein, and calcium!

...Just ignore the fact that we ate an entire pound of tortilla chips.

Thank goodness I'm not the only one who considers chocolate the best dessert for breakfast.

Oh, and York Pieces are BYU colors, as well as being dark chocolate and mint.

Sadly, that looks really really good.

I made a huge batch of caramel corn (2 sticks of butter!!) on Friday night and discovered it was gone Sunday morning. I was the only one home all weekend. I think popcorn has a lot of fiber - right? Also, the caramel corn made me want to drink a lot of water and that is good for me. I blame the 4 hours of Emma I watched on YouTube Saturday night.

when i make ramen noodle for lunch i'll add ginger, a touch of soy sauce, sesame oil, and egg (to make it kind of like egg drop soup...and because hello, it's protein) and if i have the energy/resources i'll add in some sauteed veggies.
