Newsflash

Your dogs don't belong in the library.

Really. They don't.

This is not a park, it's not some rural tavern in France, it's a library.

Just thought you might need somebody to clear that up for you. I know it's hard to keep stuff like this straight.

There's a HUGE "no dogs" sign on the door of our library and I still watch people try and head in there with them only to get sent right back out. It's not even a sign you have to READ, just the red circle-slash over a picture of YOUR dog, and you can't understand it? Bunch of hippies I live by now...

That's because, even though you profess it to anyone who might hear you, your dog? Your dog is NOT A CHILD.

Some of us have terrible allergies and a dog in a library? Bad idea.

I should clarify that there's an Intermountain Therapy program where a trainer will come in with a therapy dog and they'll go sit in the kids' section and kids can sign up to go over and read to the dog. Except that's totally different because it's educational. And because I INVITED that dog, see.

I miss you. You are so funny.

Also, I think I want to come to your library. It sounds way more exciting than Provo.

I don't know, Jen, your kids drawing and damaging all the books is pretty exciting!I thought Grandma was going to have to go regulate!

But what if my dog is really tiny and really expensive and has its own purse and outfit that matches mine complete with sunglasses and teeny tiny working cell phone? Then I'm exempt from the rules, I'm sure.

Yeah, we have that happen at our library, too. What part of "library" screams "I must bring my pet inside"?

And I live in a huge summer tourist town, so it's about to begin alllll over again. *preemptively annoyed*

My favorite is that people now get notes from their psychiatrists designating their purse-rats (read: chihuahuas) as "service animals" for companionship.

Jeri's avatar and your are sisters.

I just heard a story on NPR about reading therapy dogs and I scoffed at first, but by the end of the story I was all ready to sign my kid up to read to the dog, only I do not think my local library has this type of therapy program. The point that won me over was that a child can read to the dog and the dog will just sit and look and listen and never judge the child or be negative. Having experienced the frustration of trying to help my six year old learn to read, I know that these dogs would do a better job than I in helping my son gain confidence in his reading skills. Now if there was only a dog that could potty train my two year old.

So, I've checked the archives,

and the number of posts has gone WAY downhill as of late, girl.

SOME of us depend on these posts. Just so ya' know.

Are you preggers?

I have an ice cream shop... people try to bring dogs. We have outside seating though, so that helps. But seriously... I am a food establishment. I did have someone bring a puppy inside in their pocket. I could not help it. I let him stay in the pocket. But if your dog can not fit in your pocket, please keep it outside.

I hereby declare this blog dead.

I hope all is well in Nem land and no disaster has befallen you.

The internet misses you.

It's been a while. . . many loyal readers would love an update on your thoughts/life/health. It doesn't even have to be witty if you don't want. :)

Nem, me misses you - and I'm with the above...nothing clever or witty - just some update of some sort. I hope everything is okay.

It makes one wonder....
