Tiny Dark Lord Update
I will probably have to drop the "Tiny" part of his name soon on account of how he is kind of . . . not, anymore. Little Lord Voldemort turned 8 months old this week, reminding me yet again that he is closer to being 1 than he is to being a newborn. This blows my mind.
Here's what he has been up to lately.
Growing vampire teeth. This should not have come as a surprise, given his evil name and his father's obsession with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's kind of hilarious though, and even though I keep trying to get a good picture of the scary chompers this is the best I have been able to do.
Growing some hair. Just enough for a little fauxhawk when I'm feeling ambitious. I think it might make him kind of naughty.
Summer Reading It. I would love to get a picture every year of him with his summer reading record. Wouldn't that be awesome? Also awesome is the part where I get to use all his free food prizes on myself in the name of being a responsible parent. Mwah hah hahaha . . .
Finally getting excited about things. The Dark Lord is sort of a nonchalant little guy. We try and try to impress him with new things and he just sort of looks at us like, "Yeah? And? . . . " But I think we're finally chipping away at his veneer of worldliness. He recently cracked smiles of reluctant enjoyment during swimming, swinging, and while watching me blow bubbles. We are totally wearing him down!!
Meeting some of his cousins. Between all of GH's cousins, 6 babies were born between October and April, and his grandmother desperately wanted a picture of them all lined up on her couch. When the two out-of-state cousins came into town last weekend, we were all summoned for Grammy's Photo Shoot. This went about as well as you'd expect with a bunch of tired babies. The Dark Lord, who'd recently had a nap, was a perfect angel of serenity during round 1 of shooting. It was that second round 30 minutes later that pushed them all over the edge.
Generally being precious and adorable. Every day we marvel at how we ever managed to luck out with such a sweet, happy, chilled-out little guy. Since I'm sure this is probably some kind of Tender Mercy and our next child (not pregnant!) will probably be his polar opposite, I'm going to enjoy it while I can.
Note: This picture was taken at the This is the Place Heritage Park over Pioneer Day weekend. It was also about 4 minutes before, as we were exiting the building, he stealthily spit out his binky and lost it forever. We did soon afterwards see a pink one on the floor of the children's petting zoo barn. Tender Mercy Moment? Perhaps. But we decided to take a pass on that one.

We also had an angel for a first child. We were warned repeatedly by anyone and everyone that the second was destined to be a pill. Turns out he's even more awesome than the first one. So pbbbbbbtt to all of them. Just trying to let you know there is hope.
Love the vampire teeth!
I worry about our second child as well, since we have a sweet little bug of our own.
And, babies! Love the cousins photo. I wish my kids would have cousins in the same age groups. Unfortunately being that I and my husband are the youngest in both of our families, nearly everyone else is already done having babies.
Hooray for vampire teeth!
The picture with everyone crying was amazing. And adorable, especially from all the way over here in Lboro. ;) I can't believe 8 months!!!! In general your little guy is just SO CUTE. --E
Love the vampire teeth!
Yay summer reading club! I'm coordinating one this summer, it's been interesting lol.
everyone LOVES to make you scared of your second when you have a sweet baby. guess what? I'm on #4 and he's the sweetest yet, so I think its all just thinly veiled jealousy.
The two older of my three kiddos also had baby vampire teeth. Loved it.
TDL is as cute, sweet, precious, and lovable as ever!
That pic of all the babies is awesome. Your lucky MIL!
Yeah when you have a tough baby, you not-so-secretly hope that there's going to be a part where yours is the easy one so that other people can enjoy the suffering too. I don't think there's any documented proof that this happens though. It's more like we deserve it since we gave them those crazy genes in the first place.
He really is such a cute kiddo. (And I love the gigantor photo shoot of all of the babies.)
That picture of the babies just made my night.
