I blame you, England
Have been going through the video collection at the library and culling mercilessly. I am the perfect person for this job because although I hate throwing away my own things I quite love chucking other people's. While in the Western section I saw this, snorted like a Clydesdale, and fell on the floor laughing.
And then the pit of Hell opened its gaping maw to receive me.

What?! You're throwing things away! From the library?! Isn't that against the purpose of a library? I'm confused. Please tell me that what you are tossing are VHS tapes that will be replaced with DVDs.
Please explain.
Also, I know someone who would be very interested in that John Wayne movie.
I wonder if Marion Robert Morrison ever knew what a saucy title this film had.
Sadly, my dad's favorite movie is any John Wayne. You can donate it to my dad's movie collection and I am sure he would be thrilled. :)
Sounds like fun, though. I love throwing stuff away.
I'm going to start using that word randomly (ha! get it?) just to make you squirm.
Never fear, fair Lady Steed! Here is my long-winded explanation:
If libraries held on to everything they ever purchased then there wouldn't be enough room on the shelves for new stuff. So we have to go through and weed. We decide which items are falling apart, dated, no longer contain accurate info, need to be updated/replaced, etc. (And I promise I'm not throwing anything away--I'm putting it in the book sale).
So I'm going through the massive, bloated VHS collection and getting rid of duplicates, things we now have on DVD, and stuff that's so dated and unused as to be a waste of shelf space, like Richard Simmons' Sweatin' to the Oldies or Great Golf Bloopers of the 1960s and 1970s. I need to create some space if I want to get the DVDs out of the little spinning racks that they're in now, which toddlers take great delight in spinning so hard that all the cases go flying out and my head explodes.
Also, have no fear. Riding Randy is safe for now.
I figure you'd like that, Blackjazz. And props to you for knowing The Duke's real name!
Hannah, it's totally fun. Sorry the John Wayne isn't up for grabs yet.
You're funny, Desmama. I'm going to start quoting Apache Lover randomly (ha!) to make you squirm back.
Hee! This made my day. If only one could find a vintage movie poster of that. It would be a wonderful joke gift for an anglophile.
What do you mean, "if only," Scully?
He looks as if he's feeling positively ruttish! Or maybe it's the horse?
Sorry for degrading the quality of comments.
That is an excellent movie poster, Nem! I love the possessive hand-on-pectoral pose of the bottle-blonde. And it highlights the subtext to the movie title.
LOL...Randy.
My dad loves John Wayne (some of the few movies he'll watch). Some people just like those old classics.
