Great new Christmas Tradition

So I have to say, my favorite part of Christmas was the girls-only sleepover. We kicked out all the boys, put on our coordinating red underwear and pajamas, and had ourselves a great time. There was lots of giggling and lolling about and teasing and snapping of the waistbands of other people's underwear. Also a pillow fight. We invited some of our girlfriends to come on over, one of whom snuck in a can of whipping cream by holding it in her cleavage. Oh, the mess and squeals we made during the whipped cream fight!

Oh. Wait, sorry. That wasn't us. That was the girls from the Victoria Secret commercial that's on the air now and which is driving me slowly out . . . of . . . my . . . mind.

If there are any guys out there who think this is what we do at our sleepovers, you can stop thinking that. At our sleepovers we eat lots and lots of food and watch Sumptuous Literary Adaptations and the only sexy thing in the room is Mr Darcy. Or Mr Thornton. Or Captain Wentworth. Or, you know, any of those guys. We are not the sexy ones, I can promise you that. We don't wear pushup bras and we don't lie around staring at our cleavage and twirling our hair. We don't make out with our girlfriends or sisters and hope that you'll stop by and join in. And buying us Victoria Secret underwear and pajamas is not going to make us more likely to do any of these things.

I'm sorry, but I figured you deserve the truth.

I wonder who those commercials are based on... not me either. Except for the cleavage sneaking. Thanks for that one.

They're based on pornos.

I loved this post.

Don't leave out Mr. Rochester! He's my main man. I'd carry whipped cream around in my cleavage for him. Oh yes.

Oh Mr. Rochester! I like him especially as played by Toby Stephens. They are showing that adaptation again on PBS this Sunday and Next. And then after that it's the start of the Jane Austen Season! Yay for "Sumptious Literary Adaptations!"

And I agree, sleepovers as depicted in commercials and most movies are definitely fiction through and through. Because any woman would tell you, that's just not how they go.

Holy Cow. I'm reading your post thinking..."Oh! I hope she posts pictures of the cool red pjs!"

Victoria's Secret Commercial- (Waistband snapping + Whipped Cream) + eating lots of yummy food + Sumptuous Literary adaptations = My vision of how sleepovers go.

Nem! Are you a fan of Sense and Sensibility? Yes? Guess what new adaptation the BBC is airing soon?
Seriously--what are you doing in the States?!

Not only Sense and Sensibility, but I guess you probably missed the Doctor Who Christmas special!

Actually, it was rubbish this year :-(

Next you’ll be saying you don’t want to make out with your girlfriends

We don't make out with our girlfriends

Nooooo!! I don’t believe it So many male beliefs cruelly shattered in two short sentences.

I admit it wasn't the best of the christmas specials. did have some great quotes though

" Christmas is kind of a long story. I should know, I was there at the start. Got the last room as a matter of fact"

Saxon, that line cracked me up. As a newly obssessed Doctor Who fan, I added not seeing Christmas special to my things to be bitter about this Christmas. I have to wait until the summer when the Sci-Fi channel starts airing the new season.

Oh, and I also hate that commercial.

My mother boycotted a mall last year because of an offensive VS window display a scant 50 yards from Santa. She made me write her letter to the editor. I wonder if santa specifically requested that spot?

I walked past VS in the mall yesterday and mom read a sign about a supermodel sleepover or pajama party or something and I just died laughing thinking about this blog post. I thought I was going to hyperventilate.

Well, guess it's back to the drawing board with THAT idea.
