I am resolved

These are my actual Real New Year's resolutions

Step up scripture study and temple attendance. Which will help me become a wiser, kinder, more spiritual person who is perhaps less tempted to scream really foul words during traffic. Or when I accidentally stub my toe. Or, you know, when the last bite of ice cream falls on the ground. Trying, taxing stuff.

Start exercising again. Need to make a more concrete goal, there. Right now it's so I can be in nekkid shape for Hawaii--which gives me 2 months. Not that I plan to be nekkid in Hawaii. Much.

Start learning Spanish. Because as beautiful and sexy as The French most definitely is, it's not incredibly useful around here (naughty librarian seductions aside). We'll see if I can actually fit in a class this year or if I'll have to start out with tapes and such until my schedule gets more normal.

And then these are just Things I Want to Do This Year

Attend Utah Shakespearean Festival.

Buy only local produce this summer--and considering that I live in Aggie Town, this really should not be an impossible thing.

Can peaches with Desmama.

Freeze eggs before they start getting all cracked and linty.

Be more social--have yet to clarify this, but can already tell you it will not mean "Attend Ward Prayer and Ward FHE every single week," because I am not a machine, people, nor will it mean "Sign up for LDSPlanet." Because we've already seen where that can lead.

Build on the success of my knitted booties and move on to hats or socks.

Go on fun vacation with Mom and sisters in September/October.

Have a hot fling with Brit or nonsmoking European.

That's a pretty good start, right? What are some of yours?

I wanted to share a special story with you.

I went to the library today to get some books for my toddler and to read to him. He enjoys these trips. I am getting more and more annoyed with parents at my library.

We were sitting reading stories and all of a sudden this kid (3-4ish) starts yelling. He has climbed on top of a bookshelf and cannot get himself down. I ask him where is parents are and he does not answer. I like the library, I go to play with my son. I do not go to watch everyone else kids. So of course I take the kid off the bookshelf because there are no other adults around to rescue him. And then I threaten his life. Well, I threatened to get the librarian if he did it again.

If I wanted more baby sitting gigs, I would start advertising. Apparently I can get my fill of it at my local library though.

groan...

new years resolutions are good. Just posted mine on my blog so I can't say I've forgotten them. Not that I've used that as a execuse before of course :-)

What's LDSplanet?

What's with the urge to start canning peaches? Is it a American thing?

Oh, still blinking, groan indeed. Welcome to my life. :-) Although, I must say, it's gotten a whole lot better. Or maybe it doesn't bother me as much anymore!

Saxon, the canning thing is more about wanting to learn a new skill while taking advantage of all the fabulous local peaches, thereby furthering my pinko commie locavore goals. I promise it's not a Utah Mormon Genetic Programming thing. :-)

I'll take your word for it :-)

Great resolutions. Good luck on them. Keep us filled in on the canning and the local produce. It's all rather interesting to me--and I can live vicariously through you. :)

Overall, very inspiring. I guess I'd better go write my own.

I have the same resolution as last year (since I failed so miserably): stop dropping the f-bomb. It's despicable.

The picture on the egg freezing site made me laugh. It looks like that woman is pulling a fully grown baby out of a freezing chamber and thinking to herself, "Gosh I am so glad I had this place freeze my eggs. I am extra happy I went for the 'Freeze, Fertilize, Grow and Hold Baby in Cryogenic Chamber Until You are Ready to Raise it' plan. So worth the extra money. None of that pesky pregnancy or giving birth stuff for me! I sure am glad it turned out cute."

When in fact the photo is meant to capture all the cuteness of giving a baby a bath.

Good luck with the egg freezing and other resolutions.

I love New Year's goals, and I also like planning activities to do throughout the year. Like the Shakespearean festival. I will steal that one. Also, some of the Utah activities that Murray and I would like to do this year are closer to you, and you're absolutely invited to join us for our adventures.

Reasons I know I'm a bit slow:

My first thoughts on the egg freezing until I saw Lady Steed's comment--Wow! I didn't know you could freeze chicken eggs. I guess that way you could them longer. It must have something to do with eating locally.

Now that I've seen the web site link all makes much more sense.

Divine Miss A, I thought about that when I wrote it. ("I hope people don't think I mean chicken eggs.") And yet that is exactly what happened. Oh well . . . :-)

Great goals! Temple attendance is high on my list.

You'll enjoy the Shakespeare festival. I lived in Cedar for a while. I was a serving wench at the king's feast. Great experience!

No, no. It's not you; it's all me. I only had a few minutes to read and so I didn't click on the link until later.

What kind of hats do you want to knit? No mittens??? Let me know where and when you want to knit. Still Amyjane's mom's neighbor... I so got the egg thing. Is there an egg bank around Logan???????? I've got some extra freezer space if not. Your eggs, pork chops, film, Fat Boys. It's all good.

Mad hadder, thanks for the offer of freezer space. It made me shoot milk out my nose. I don't know what kind of hats yet--I'm thinking the cute kind for little girls with the knit flower on the front, for Savvy.
