Letter from the Editor

So there are some people out there who bemoan the fact that my blog has now become boring and wedding-centric (hi, Ed!). He's worried that this isn't what people signed on for--they signed on for rants, terrible dating stories, and talk of drying ovaries. So it's lame that they have to read this stuff now instead. And I'm going to lose readers.

To those who feel that way: I completely understand and sympathize. Feel free to take a break. It won't hurt my feelings. When you come back in a month or two I'll be writing exclusively about the wild sex and being seriously, so blessed.

For those who are planning to stick around, here are my pieces of good news:

1. GF and I found an apartment. It's 15 minutes from his work and has a duck pond and a kitchen island. So, pretty much all you need to be blissfully happy. I didn't expect to have a kitchen island until I was at least 40. Go me, being all kitchenally advanced! Now I just need to buy some patio furniture so I can rock on the balcony and shake my cane at the neighborhood children. Also some chains for the bedroom.

2. I'm flying to Alaska tomorrow night for a quick visit. Coolboy gets home from the Dominican Republic TODAY, and my brother Dave is home for a brief R&R from Afghanistan. He and my s-in-law are getting sealed in the Anchorage Temple on Saturday. The other highlight of Saturday will be our lunch here. And then it's possible that I'll be dragged off to the wilderness for two days of dip netting. Or at least two days of watching dip netting while I read and nap in the Suburban, fight the urge to don fleece, and keep an eye out for grizzlies.

I, on the other hand, would love MORE wedding related posts. But I forgive you because you probably don't have time for that right now. But I do hope to see lots and lots of pictures after everything calms down.

"ANyOnE cAn bE a fAthEr, bUt iT tAkEs sOmEonE spEciAl tO bE a DAD!" -- either by Anonymous or Boyd K. Packer, I can't remember.

SERIOUSLY, SO BLESSED! Nem, you made my flippin' day! That was awesome, so awesome, so totally extremely awesome. As are you.

Uh, what's dip netting? and now that you have a kitchen island you are just one step closer to have a utility sink in your laundry room, ooh fun.

So if you're moving to SLC with HotHusband(to be), what about your job up in L***n? Are you looking for work in SLC or are you going to be a stay-at-home gourmet taster or what? I thought you pretty much ruled the world up in L***n. What will they do without you??

Looks like a great apartment. I'll be thinking about that on when I'm living in a van down by the river! -that is one of my favorite SNL skits :)

Thanks for the Seriously, So Blessed link it's totally awesome.

well if people wanting ranting you could always send them across to my blog I need the readers :-) I'm shameless I know

I for one don't mind all the wedding posts. It's good to see you so happy.

I still love you, even if you have a smug married blog now. You can still be funny AND married, I'm sure. Have fun in AK, give lil' bro a hello from me!

Anon, no worries! You'll get your pictures, even if they're of me being mauled by a bear.

Lilcis, how can I refuse you?

30spokes, I KNOW. She kind of makes me cry laughing. I wish I'd thought to do that. But then I'd have to read all the terrible blogs out there to get inspiration. So maybe it's better this way.

T & J & V, dip netting is this thing where you try to flip salmon out of rivers with this long net on a pole. Do not ask me why people do it. Only I just found out I'm lucky because as a non-Alaskan I'm ineligible for a dip-netting license. So I think Mom and I will go out for sushi instead. Also? Don't even tease me with the sink. Seriously.

Anon . . . yeah. I will have to resign as Queen of L****. This makes me sad because I'm sure there are L**** moms I have not yet offended. And now I won't even get the chance. So I'm on the job hunt right now for SCL-area library jobs. And for unicorns, since they're about as common.

Thanks, NYC_Ransoms! You should know that I have an announcement with your name on it. I'm holding it hostage until I get an address for you.

Saxon, thanks!

Amyjane, I'm glad you'll still love me when I'm a Smug Married. Maybe now I can win all my BFFs back from Jenny!

We will miss you. And try not to get eaten by a bear. Because I hear that it puts a damper on blogging, wedding-centric or no.

Jeri, I will miss you. I will do my best to avoid the ursine encounters.

Your blog is a consistent day-brightener for me, regardless of topic, and your links and add-ons (i.e. "Seriously.." and the SNL video)just increase the fun. I have to say that the "Seriously" blog took me by surprise--I did not see that one coming. Congratulations on finding an apartment!

That's a lotta good news. I had to look up dip netting, but I got there. Re the wild sex comment (which should bring you new readers via risque Google searches)have you read Post Secret this week (card 8 and the comment after it)? :)

I quite like you rocking it bride-to-be style and I'm thinking that with your engagement being so short there's not even time to get sick of it. Also I feel we owe you for not being insufferably in love all over the blog for the entire year preceding the proposal. So it's all good.

Funniest detail on that So Blessed blog is that she only has one tag. Love it. :)

1. Congratulations on the kitchen island
2. I love that blog--hilarious
3. I've been a complete stalker on your blog for months now and haven't ever left a comment, but Jenny (I'm in her book club) says I should make myself known, so here I go.
4. It's a little (read: really) late, but congratulations on the engagement. I don't know you, but I'm extremely happy for you!

from what I understand of your new complex, the only people you'll be shaking a cane at are other people shaking canes. It's basically a retirement community.

is that blessed person real? or is it a big joke. Tell me it's a big joke... I just spent about ten minutes at work reading it with wide eyes and an open mouth.

SOOOOO glad you found a place! I like reading about your wedding stuff. It's fun to re-live all the crap that you go through in the process. And to hear your point of view. :)
