Man Candy day

Hey, remember that one time when I asked you guys to pray up a job for GH so that he didn't have to work nights anymore and then you totally did it?

Well he started the new job last week and now check out what I get to look at every day.

Aw. Yeah.

Also, pay no attention to the dead tomato plants behind him. And the electronics boxes from Christmas-and-possibly-earlier that we haven't taken down to the dumpster yet. This is not a judging space.

We went to Kohl's over Christmas and kitted GH out with work clothes, including a new black peacoat. I cannot overstate how happy the new coat made me. GH picked it out. He likes it because it still has a hood (detachable, whee!) so he gets to at least feel like he's in a hoodie--albeit a hoodie that actually imparts attractiveness instead of Michael Cera-ness. I like it because hi, it's a man's peacoat and because his other jacket looks like something you'd find on a Vietnam vet. (Thanks for going through some sort of crazed veteran phase, Old Navy.)

Eye candy benefits aside, it has been so incredibly nice to be on the same schedule. We go to bed at the same time, we wake up at the same time, and then we do it again the next day! Like normal people! And about 50% of the time so far I have gotten up at 6:30am with GH and fixed a hot breakfast for us. (The other times I just stay in bed like a comatose slug and glory in the part where I'm not the one who has to get up.)

A highlight for me was when GH came home with his Casual-except-not-really-Friday shirt--a pullover that has the company name on the front. If he wears that on Friday, he doesn't have to wear a tie with it, see. All his coworkers are way excited about this and it's this thing that has been years in the making and now it's like Glenn Beck himself has appeared to cry his salty, salty tears upon them. (Remember, it's Utah County.)

Thing is, they're calling it Casual Friday but come on. I know it's actually Uniform Day. Like you're suddenly McDonalds or Best Buy employees instead of people with dreams and souls. You will recall that I have seen this sort of thing before. Once you have a radar for it, you can never be fooled again.

That's what the dork said, j.

I'm a huge fan of every day being casual Friday, and I can hardly remember working at a company that made me dress up to go to work. The flip side is that people look slovenly. Yay for Man Candy Day!

I can't decide if the reference to Michael Cera or Glenn Beck is my favorite. Love you for both.

GH looks sharp! Congrats again on the new job--that is so exciting!

Last but not least, re: your last post, I was thinking of the place in the Emporium. Have you been there? It's small, but looks like fun if you're in the market for lovely yarn!

So jealous of the same schedule thing. I dream of the day!

How do you not leap on top of him like a tiger in that argyle sweater? You must have amazing self control.

I wish we could wear jeans at work even occasionally but they like that who dress like you work in the corporate world thing at my work.

Ah crap. You just reminded me that we had a $10 off coupon to Khols to use between Christmas and New Year and were going to use it to buy the husband a new shirt since I'd finally convinced him that was a great place to buy jeans and they gave us the coupon because we spent enough on jeans. Crap. Got too busy getting ready for a trip to Disney.

Isn't it fun when the guys look all hot like that? Yippy!

Glenn Beck rules! ;-)

There's nothing sexier than a man who knows how to dress. Period.

Ties at work?

We gave that up in Europe about 8 years ago. Even senior managers in big business.

Give it 30 years and Utah will have caught up. :)

Azucar, it's funny. At one of my library jobs there's no real dress code. At the other there DEFINITELY is. It's still much better than the "you are college students who must wear nylons" office I worked in once.

Emandtrev, that shop is called Rumplestiltskin and it's a fun little place! The lady who owns it is very nice too. That's where I got the angora yarn for Desmama's baby booties.

Mechanica, I will cross fingers for you!

Abby, my self-control IS amazing! (As everyone who's ever been in a position to know otherwise falls into a heap on the floor laughing)

Giggles, yeah. We ended up with $40 of those bucks and I kept thinking, "Have to go use the coupon, have to go use the coupon" all Christmas break.

Goddess, you are right. About the sexy well-dressed man thing. ;-)

I dunno, Pierre, that sounds a bit optimistic. Better make it 35-40 just to be safe! But lucky you!

dressing up for work is 80% of the reason why I quit teaching school.

You are SO MARRIED if man candy is your husband. Wait about ten years and man candy will be something the REST of us want to see again. ;)
