I work and I slave all day, and for what?
The Tiny Dark Lord and I are leaving tonight for the Great White North. Because it gets cold there, and because he keeps yanking off all his hats, I decided to use some stash yarn to make a hat that buttons onto his head, thereby outsmarting him, see. Also a pair of little striped mittens cute enough to eat. Because I am the smart adult in this scenario.
Made the hat, it's totally precious.

I wasn't able to try it on him much as I went because if he saw me even coming toward him with the thing he would throw his arms up and cover his head with them. But today I had buttons, and I strapped that thing on, chortled in delight, and grabbed the camera to take a picture for Ravelry.
Only then, this happened.
They weren't kidding when they said this thing was stretchy. In 4 seconds he had it off and was shrieking with laughter at my groans of frustration. I don't think I'll be able to get it back on again, ever, and will have to just watch his ears turn black and fall off in the Arctic Tundra.
The little turkey. What he doesn't know is that I am totally going to make another one in a smaller size and who will be laughing then, huh? HUH?
(Let's be honest, it will probably still be him.)
Wish us luck on the plane tonight so that TDL will sleep and we won't have a whole bunch of burly Alaskans mad at us!

Just curious, how long does it take you to make such an amazing thing? Are we talking months? Weeks? Days?
Also, your baby is seriously, seriously adorable. And I am not one to say that about all babies.
Wow, that is SO cute! He looks pretty pleased with himself. Little darling rascal...
Liz, thank you for the baby compliments! You know I eat them up. I am not a fast knitter, and this one only took me a few days.
I need to make this SO BAD. Man. I am not allowed to start any more projects. I have so many already started. BUT BABY NEEDS.
