Complaining about fasting makes it really work

Today is Fast Sunday. I've managed to get out of a lot of these by being pregnant, but I'm not any more. This, despite TDL asking me the other day if I have another baby brother in there. When informed frostily that no, there are no other baby brothers gestating, he started giggling and swatting my tummy. "Do you have one? It's in there! It's in there! Tee hee hee, cackle cackle cackle . . . "

Humph. Little toot, calling me fat. You'd think he wouldn't be so keen to get more baby brothers since he just barely started acknowledging the one he has.

Anyway. Not the point. We are fasting as a ward for someone who really needs the extra faith and prayers, so I'm for sure doing it. After feeding the Dark Lord his lunch and getting a batch of Rhodes rolls rising for dinner, I immediately cleaned everything up (which is not my usual way) so I wouldn't be tempted to start licking the leftover dip and ketchup off TDL's plate. Or spraying PAM directly into my mouth.

And now for a topic that is not my related to my disgusting lack of self control, last Sunday was little Loki's baby blessing. My parents were in town and GH's family came and we all had such a nice day.

He wore the baby sweater I made for him, but it looks like I should have started putting him in it earlier because it's already snug.

Couldn't you just die at this face? I swear his eyes are going to be blue, which fills me with a delight I can't even express in words, just in gifts and money and ponies. Also filling me with delight is the part where he is maybe maybe starting to accept the idea of a pacifier being a useful and comforting tool, instead of reacting like I'm trying to stick actual dog poop into his mouth. Winning!

Loki is just precious and that sweater is so beautiful! I'm glad it was a nice day.

I feel the same way about fasting. One of my tentative goals this year is to do at least four fasts (gotta set the bar low). I am such a slacker about it.

The Baby Sophisticate! It's perfect and full of the most delicious chunk of baby! I started the child version for M and ran out of the one-of-a-kind, no-trace-of-it-anywhere yarn three rows into the button band. Sad trumpet.

Um, that baby is enormous and adorable. How did he get so big so fast?!

And the PAM-spraying bit made me snort-laugh. HA! I hate fasting. I am so terrible at it.

Sigh. Little Loki could not possibly be any cuter. That little grin melts my heart. Also, his sweater is so cute. Did you notice that Baby A wore the sweater you made her in our family pics? It's immortalized now.

Blah. That was me. Not Darren. Who does he think he is, leaving himself signed in? Me?

@Señora H-B Senora, have you seen Jana Reiss's suggestions for people who can't do food/water fasts? She has some good ones!

Rachael, I cringed when I read about you running out of yarn. (That kept happening to me too with this sweater, grrrr.) What about making a striped version, or one where the cuffs, hem, and button band are a contrasting color? Then your gorgeous yarn wouldn't go to waste!

Liz, don't has me how he got so big. But yeah, I swear he gets cuter every day.

Desmama, I figured. ;-) Have never known Darren to get on here and wax poetic over my offspring!

Man, I need to catch up on your blog!

Little Loki is so precious, I was to snuggle him to pieces.
