Weekend highlights/lowlights
Highlights:
Book club meeting at Angie's, a local restaurant, to discuss Great Expectations. Great shakes. All the other girls were married but I can't really hold that against them. Since the subject of afterbirth never once came up, I'm feeling good about the group's potential.
Met up with Desmama at a book signing. Have I mentioned yet how cool she is? Because it's true. And her babies are so stinking cute.
Got a great haircut for a great price. I look fabulous. The red highlights always look pretty dark in the beginning, but the head-wound look should wear off soon enough.
Finally read New Moon by Stephenie Meyer. Wanted to shut myself up and not do anything else or talk to anyone until I was finished.
Watched Cool Hand Luke at the Utah Theater--it shows old movies every weekend. Roman Holiday is coming in a few weeks. Anyway, had not truly realized that the young Paul Newman is quite possibly one of the most beautiful men ever born. Seriously. That guy's profile belongs on coinage.
Lowlights:
Actually, I'll save those. I'm not feeling rational enough yet to get into them. They involve my new ward and why I cannot continue to go there if I want to remain sane. Will leave you with this pic instead.

Newman's Own Paul Newman? He is very pretty. I don't know how we missed out on that growing up.
Coinage? Or bottles of salad dressing? They both work for me.
I see ward surfing in your future. My ward is on the older side since we have a lot of upperclassmen. I don't identify well with the mostly freshmen wards.
Your book club sounds like a keeper. And, yes, it is a good thing the subject of afterbirth never came up. I'm married and now expecting our first, and if my book club ever starting talking about afterbirth, I think I just might have to tell them to shove it and then storm out.
First, a little background: Found out about you from your brother over on the EDS message board. Have been a lurker for over a year now. Have read all your blog postings. Ok, second: I can't believe you are just now reading Twilight! I've read it about 20 times, and I just have to tell you, the first time I read Twilight was right around the time I started reading your blog, and so I now picture you as Bella. (/stalker) :) Love your blog, by the way!
Dear "Yeah. It's me" . . . first off, it's so great to hear from you! Secondly, thank you for saving me from myself--I meant to write New Moon there instead of Twilight. This is why I should never blog after midnight. Will just go fix that now . . . so embarrassing.
Am beyond honored that you associate me with Bella. I'm probably nothing like her but I'll take me an Edward ANY DAY.
Can't wait to hear the lowlights.
We need meet at a place like that for our bookclub in our bookclub!
Paul Newman is dreamy. He is the elder statesman of the Fantasy Boyfriend League(TM). Although I think Josh Lucas of Sweet Home Alabama fame, is like his genetic duplicate. Kind of like Brad Pitt is Robert Redford's genetic duplicate.
Aw, shucks. *Tries not to blush*
I am glad you liked the book club. I was a little nervous since we're sort of an eclectic group (so far, anyway), but I kinda like that aspect of it. Anyway, that was a fun little get-together?
The book signing was fun, too. We've already read the book a couple of times and I've been surprised that DesTot's been content to listen. Some of the words are kinda big but she's been okay with it.
And yes, the haircut does indeed look great.
Paul Newman is delicious. If you liked Cool Hand Luke, you should to watch Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. But watch with caution--even though Paul Newman is a drunk jerk for most of the movie, he can still get you all cat-on-a-hot-tin-roof-y.
Hannah, do you really think we should meet at a restaurant? Think of all the good food we'd be missing out on. I will make milkshakes next time if you want. It would be nice not to have people sushing us because they have sleeping children. I support you on that idea.
I forgot to recommend The Long Hot Summer for Paul Newman yumminess. Attractive, troubled drifter. Just my type.
Three reasons to love Paul Newman:
1. He's SO hot, even as an old man. Those eyes!
2. Newman's Own. How clever and sweet is he, to give us healthy food AND donate the proceeds to charity.
3. He has remained faithful to his wife, even Joanne Woodward (except for that brief fling we had ten years ago before I got married that I am willing to overlook, because hi--who could resist ME?) for pretty much more years than I have been alive. Any Hollywood type person who does that is on my A-list.
