This is not good for my rage
My last surviving daffodil is gone, now--murdered by the kid who mowed the lawn on Saturday. Between him and the neighbor kids (not once but twice) there are no more flowers at all of any kind.
Which is why I didn't feel that bad when I accidentally backed over one of their bikes with my car.
I hope it was the little girl's. (This is the same girl who also scraped a rock along the entire side of my roommate's new car.) It's about time for her to start learning about a little thing called karma and how tasty her tiny delinquent butt must look to it.
Have I mentioned how glad I am that spring decided to show up this week?

I'm a little bit scared of you right now.
By the way, I would be mortified if that had been my children. I would have appreciated a call letting me know what happened so that I could rightly discipline them. Not that you don't think this enough, but WHERE are their PARENTS?
Azucar, when the rock & car incident happened (last year before I moved in) there actually was the whole parent-dragging-the-child-over-to-apologize scene.
This time around I didn't realize it was the next-door kids til later, and it seemed a bit late to make an issue of it.
Sounds like it's time to move.
I hate [most] children.
Evil children! Karma's a b***h, as they say.
This is how mean old ladies evolve... one run over daffodil at a time.
Personally I would have made the parents pay for the damage. It was vandalism pure and simple. Muskrat should have had to pay for some of it out of her allowance.
I'm all about justice :).
I'm suddenly glad I never got on your bad side when you were over here.
It will be intersting to see if you have any change of heart or opinion when you become the parent of one or more of these property destroying children.
My neighbor kids killed my second attempt of having a horse chestnut tree in my yard. They catapulted things off of the top branches and "killed it dead."
This year they apologized, but told me how much fun they had.
The tree was on a hill.
The kids ride their bikes down the hill occasionally.
Secretly I hope that they scrape their chins on the sidewalk at the bottom.
I am a horrible person.
Yikes. Do people really hate kids? I better go supervise mine. I like to think they know to keep their hands off gardens, but they do wave their light sabers (read: savers) as people drive down the street yelling out invectives about Darth Maul (from a little movie they call the Fanta Menace), Darth Vader (read: Fader) and the force. I guess that is probably rude. But I know they wouldn't mess with the flowers.
Dad, I don't think I have an especially bad "heart" when it comes to these kids. Aside from the one instance where I asked them to stop picking the flowers, I haven't done anything to them. I didn't even run over that bike on purpose. They're getting off easy.
Remember that scene in Fried Green Tomatoes where Kathy Bates (I think it was KB) keeps slamming into that chick's car in the grocery store parking lot for cutting her off and stealing her parking spot? I just loved that scene.

Um . . . where are the parents of these kids. They may not be able to watch them every second, but consequences, friend, consequences. (And I don't just mean apologizing.) Chores to pay for the damages?
Maybe it's because I'm an English teacher, but I think of Jem Finch reading to Mrs. Henry Lafayette Duboise after he destroyed her camillas. Not that you want to be read to, but something that takes a time commitment.
(You can tell I don't have kids, because I have tons of parenting theories.)
Are any of them named "Chuckie?"
Good ole Emperor Palpatine said it best: "The hate is swelling in you now...Give in to your anger!"
I, for one, am happy (read: amused) to see this side of you.
