What I've been up to
Domestic Goddessing. Did 14 pints of raspberry jam last weekend at the lovely and gracious Desmama's house. (Desmama did all the work, I just followed orders and told her what a great job she was doing.) Am going back up today to do half a bushel of peaches in an attempt to finish her off. Then will rest easy in the knowledge that we can make it through the winter as long as the only things we need are peaches and jam and the 24 cups of fresh sweet corn in the freezer.
Tarting, thanks to Yankeegirl (who provided the tart pan) and Danalee (who gave me an amazing cook book with this recipe in it). And Lady Steed and Th. who gave me the cake stand. And my local Farmers Market for having so many peaches. It takes a village. And see? I said I'd make tarts.
Knitting, except I can't show you any pics because the intended recipients read this blog. Will start knitting a teddy for GH's Christmas present as soon as the current projects are done. You can expect a picture of THAT one for sure.
Wiing. Only actually did this once. Savvy and Ethan came to visit and spent the first hour spinning each other around in the computer desk chair in an attempt to make someone (anyone) vomit. When they tired of this and began a monkey-shrieking contest, GH stepped in to provide their first exposure to video games in the form of Mario Kart. It makes sense, he wooed me with a Wii back in the day too. Of course their lives are now forever changed and they want to know when they can go back to "GH's house" to play with him. Humph.

Been tarting, huh?
When I married, my brother-in-laws (who used to hang out with me) ditched me for my husband. And my sister's kids like him better than me. Just wait until you visit your parents (or they visit you) and they barely greet you as they eagerly look past you for him. Or call you on the phone and ask for him. Not that I am bitter or anything.
I'm conflicted on my response learning that my grandchildren's lives are ruined by introducing them to a Wii at such a tender age. They'll never be the same. J&E must be so happy.
I think disheveled-GH-with-kids is my favorite GH so far. How cute is he? Also the little kids, of course.
That tart looks delicious. Did you use pastry cream or some other filling?
I'd like to marry that tart, thank you.
Tarting and knitting teddies sound like newlywed activities to me. Good job.
My nieces and nephews all ditched me once my husband came into the picture. He's more fun than I am, being just a big kid and all.
You know, it's really a good thing that your family likes your spouse. Afterall, you liked him/her enough to make him/her part of the family, so why shouldn't they? And they don't have any history with him/her so there are no issues or baggage (yet). I'd say it's a very happy arrangement overall.
i knew you'd make a tart. i've always had faith in you.
i'm sorry to double comment, but spouseman saw the photo of the tart, and would like you to know that he thinks it is "totally awesome."
i would be jealous, since he's never told me that anything i've made is awesome, but i'm not that type of girl.
i knew you'd make a tart.

holy hannah. When I read that I completely thought it said: I knew you'd make a fart.
;)
Awwww lucky! Can I come over over and hang out with GH too?
"How lovely that they have taken to him so quickly." (I imagine you saying through gritted teeth. :))
I wasn't sure if I was supposed to comment on GH's cuteness now that he's GH, but luckily jer broke the ice. That really is the cutest pic yet. (Sweetest is still with you by the stacks.)
I'm having visions of little Nemmies and little GH's. So cute.
I am so impressed with your domestic divaness! That tart looks absolutely incredible.
Jane, I'm glad you feel me. I mean, I'm GLAD they like him (see my mom's comment), but yeah. You feel me.
Hi, Dad. Yeah, Ed says he dies a little bit inside when he sees that pic of his babies playing video games.
Jer, yeah, I think GH is pretty cute too with bedhead. The tart recipe calls for pastry cream and then fresh fruit on top. The only sad story is that I didn't cook the cream long enough so it didn't . . . quite set. Still tasty, though!
N.F., if you email me I will send you the recipe. Do with it what naughty things you will. ;-)
Thanks, STM!
Rynell, yeah. Yeah.
Stephanie, please tell your husband thank you for me. And that he needs to tell you you're awesome more often. Also? His chocolate tart is next. Cannot. Even. Wait.
Dave: Come on over, brother!
Chosha, I think it helped that they took to him pretty much from Day 1. Ethan no longer sees me without looking behind me for GH. And then pouts if he's not there.
Mom, please cross fingers that the fruits of our loins will be blond fruits. I have money riding on it.
Emandtrev, thanks so much! I really miss seeing you at bookclub, btw . . . :-(
That tart is hot. I think a little bit of Ed dies every time he sees the picture of the kids playing the wii.
